Heritage Living: The Homestead Way

Milled Grains: From Grain to Table is a class focused on the art of milling grains and using freshly milled flour in everyday baking. Participants will learn how to mill grains, bake with them successfully, and make a rich, homemade butter—the perfect finishing touch to a warm, freshly milled loaf of bread.

This class includes a presentation covering the history of wheat and milling, the science of the wheat berry, a live milling demonstration, and success stories from Veritas customers who have implemented fresh-milled grains in their homes. You’ll also hear from a local fresh-milled baker who will share her own experience and how she incorporates fresh-milled grains into her business.

Heritage Living: Fermenting – Old Ways, Living Food

Fermenting: Old Ways, Living Foods is a hands-on class focused on the art of fermentation. Participants will learn how to make fermented hot sauces, sauerkraut, and kombucha, using time-honored methods that have been passed down for generations.

Fermenting foods offers many benefits, including improved gut health, enhanced nutrient absorption, natural preservation without additives, and support for a healthy immune system. This class will help you confidently incorporate fermented foods into your everyday kitchen while preserving food the heritage way.

Heritage Living: Cheese Making – From Milk to Table

Cheese Making: From Milk to Table is a hands-on class that introduces participants to the art of making cheese at home. You’ll learn the fundamentals of cheese making, how to build your own cheese press, and gain practical knowledge you can take straight back to your kitchen.

This class walks through the process of turning simple ingredients into delicious, homemade cheese while highlighting traditional methods that make cheese making approachable and rewarding for everyday homesteaders.

Classes

We believe learning should be accessible and engaging for all ages. Our heritage-focused activities give children and adults a chance to experience traditional skills in a fun, interactive way.

Our instructors are local producers, educators, and skilled community members who are passionate about sharing their knowledge. By learning directly from those practicing these skills every day, attendees gain practical insight and real-world experience.

Each class is different, and some require you bring some supplies. All of the necessary information for each class will be posted.

Heritage Farmer’s Market is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This means our mission is to serve the public and strengthen our community. We do not aim to generate profit.

Many of our programs are free or low-cost. Some classes require a fee to help cover the real expenses. This is necessary to provide quality educational opportunities.

What Class Fees Help Cover

Class fees are used to support:

  • Instructor fees
  • Educational materials and supplies
  • Facility and equipment use
  • Program administration and coordination

These fees allow us to continue offering hands-on, well-organized classes while keeping them accessible to the community.

Any revenue generated from classes is reinvested directly into Heritage Farmer’s Market programs, including:

  • Free or low-cost community events
  • Educational programming
  • Market operations that support local producers

No individual profits from these classes.
